Bringing Mental Health Awareness to Our Students, Parents, and the Community

The Courageous Marks Project started with a few art teachers in Queen Anne's County Public Schools.  Their focus was to bring mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, and suicide prevention awareness to our students, parents, and community members in our area.  Art is being spread in our area to help those in need.  Use this website to gather information for you and your loved ones; get the help you deserve and need.

Students Helping Students

Students are starting the discussion in Queen Anne's County to help create an awareness of emotional well-being and mental health assistance.  Beginning at the elementary level, students are making their marks by creating stepping stones to encourage strength, build self esteem, develop character, and love themselves and others.

Establishing Awareness

As concerns regarding mental health and suicide increase during the high school years, more educational and help information will be aligned with each artwork. Ceramic tiles containing symbolism will be placed in and around the school and community.   These decorative tiles will have the QR Codes for mental health and suicide prevention agencies.

Bringing it All Together

The long term goal is to combine the efforts of all levels in order to make community installation pieces focused on mental health and suicide awareness.  The concept is to have all three levels work together to develop a bird bath for various locations in the county.  The pots would be made at the higher level, while detail and assembly will be combined efforts among all levels.  They will be decorative, functional, and informative.
